Around 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Police report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then discovered numerous other marked cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; officials are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the event," they stated.
City officials said they were working "to solve the incident" and have requested to the residents for information.
A senior representative commented the attack left him stunned and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, recalling the killing of nine victims by a gunman focusing on residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
